Here is some information about your rights and protections as a participant; all of these are from the consent form signed before participating in any study:
-
Confidentiality: We plan to publish or present the results of studies, but will not include any information that would identify you. In order to send you the daily surveys, the researchers will retain your contact information (name, phone number, mailing address, email address) for the duration of the studies. To keep your information safe, the researchers will always assign you a code number, which will be the only identifying information attached to collected data. All data and participant information will be stored separately, in locked file cabinets and password-protected computers, to ensure that only the researchers have access to it.
-
Voluntary nature of the study: Participating in all studies is completely voluntary. Even if you decide to participate now, you may change your mind and stop at any time. If you decide to withdraw early, you will in no way harm your relationship with the researchers or the University.
-
Contact Information: If you have questions about this research, you may contact Dr. Brenda Whitehead, (313) 593-5493 (phone), bwht@umich.edu (email).
